A shape-shifting guardian of the deep that swims as a horned whale or sea horse, calls up storms, and gallops across the waves in unicorn form.
Also called a narwhal, it takes three shapes, all with deep blue eyes and the same long spiral horn: a small whale, a sea horse, and a blue-white unicorn.
It changes form at will but only underwater, spending one round in which it cannot attack. Every shape breathes water; the unicorn shape breathes air too and can stride over the surface at its normal land speed whenever it wishes. Once daily it can control weather as the priest spell, at 11th level.
Sea unicorns dwell in seas and any waters bigger than a large lake. Orderly and peaceful, they avoid conflict, pair for life and keep precisely charted territories. Pure-hearted maidens of the sea elves, both deep-dwelling and shallow-water kinds, may ride them.
They graze kelp gardens that they tend with great care. A narwhal horn is an ingredient in potions of water breathing.
