Free to Use

Every page in this reference is free to read. There is no paywall, subscription, download or registration of any kind. The site is supported by advertising, which the Fan Content Policy allows, and the ads never block access to the content.

What Is Original

All 2,478 monster descriptions (summary, appearance, combat, habitat and society, ecology) were written new for this site. They are not copied or reposted from any published book. The page layout, the A to Z index, the setting catalog and the site design are also original.

Creatures and characters strongly associated with Wizards of the Coast brands appear under original names, and the proper names of their published worlds, people, gods and places have been replaced with plain descriptions.

What Belongs to Wizards of the Coast

Game statistics (such as Armor Class, Hit Dice, THAC0, damage and experience values) are game facts reproduced for reference. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, AD&D, the names of campaign settings and the titles of published books are trademarks or property of Wizards of the Coast LLC. They are used here only to identify which game, setting or book a monster comes from, and do not suggest any endorsement.

What Is Not Used

This reference contains no Wizards of the Coast or TSR logos, cover art, interior illustrations, scans or verbatim rules text.
