Flame-haired eladrin bards who live for beauty, sing foes into helplessness, and become living pillars of fire when art and goodness need defending.
Firres (pronounced 'feers') are eladrins consumed by a burning love of art, music and magic, who try to make their own lives into works of wonder. In natural form a firre resembles a stocky elf with brilliant red hair. She might pass for a half-elf but for her eyes, which have no iris or pupil and blaze with inner fire. She can also become a man-sized ball or pillar of flame, in which form she flies at her listed rate.
Like coures and bralani, firres often fight with weapons in demihuman form, and their 18/00 Strength belies their size. They favor long, wavy-bladed swords equivalent to two-handed swords +3 and slim javelins that burst into fiery bolts when thrown, striking as javelins +5 and burning up in the process (many carry up to four). Meeting the glare of an angry firre forces a save vs. paralyzation; failure means 2d10 rounds of blindness and 1d10 damage.
As fire, a firre attacks twice a round for 3d6 each. Creatures within 10 feet must save vs. spell or take 1d6 from the heat, and any weapon that hits her must pass an item save vs. magical fire or be destroyed, though she still takes the damage.
In demihuman form she may sing instead of attacking, producing her choice of a charm, hold, sleep or suggestion effect on every creature within 50 feet that fails a save vs. spell; her sleep song works even on creatures normally immune to sleep.
Whatever her shape, a 10-foot aura of protection from evil surrounds her. At will, once per round, she can use continual light, affect normal fires or wall of fire; ESP, detect invisibility or improved invisibility; advanced illusion or polymorph self; or hurl a 10d6 fireball. Once per day she can cast prismatic spray, and she also casts spells as a 9th-level priest. Only weapons of +2 or better or cold-wrought iron can hit her, and they do normal, not double, damage.
Firres wander their home plane as minstrels and bards, entertaining the courts of greater eladrins or a circle of coures in some hidden glade. Their search for beauty takes them anywhere art, skill and grace are prized, so a firre is as likely to be found touring the neutral planes or a neutral power's palace as at home. They adore mortal art and often spend long journeys on the Prime Material Plane seeking out masterpieces.
