Werelagomorph [Were-hare]

A spiteful little were-hare that dreams up endless cruelties and rarely has the nerve to carry them out, though only silver or magic can hurt it.

Setting: Dragon Magazine · Sources: Dragon156

Appearance

Most of the time a werelagomorph looks like nothing more than an ordinary hare nibbling at the edge of a field. Threaten it, though, and it shifts into its were-form, a hybrid shape able to hold and swing a one-handed weapon.

Combat

The creature only takes its were-form when attacked. In that shape it can wield any one-handed weapon, dealing normal damage for that weapon. Ordinary arms cannot harm it; only silver or magical weapons wound a were-hare, and this includes holy hand grenades.

Its personality is the real menace. The were-hare is nasty to the core and seizes every chance to show just how vile it can be. Fortunately for its neighbors, it lacks courage, so most of its wicked schemes stay schemes. A game master can play it as a sneering, plotting coward that bolts once a fight turns honest.
