Horned and spiked herbivores, a cannibal pack hunter and a vast pterosaur that dives out of the sun round out the prehistoric beasts of the lost lands.
This jungle dweller looks like a stegosaurus crossed with a dacentrurus. Bony plates guard its spine from neck to hips; behind them, rearward-pointing spikes continue all the way down the tail, and it always swings that end toward a foe. It defends at AC 2 80% of the time, and anyone attacking its rear third has a 25% chance of being struck for 1d8.
A four-legged ornithischian related to monoclonius, styracosaurus and triceratops. Its name means 'five-horned face', yet this belligerent grazer carries just three real horns, the other two being cheekbones jutting from either side of its face. Thanks to its frill, which may extend over much of the back, and its horns, the head counts as AC 2; elsewhere it is unprotected at AC 6. A charging pentaceratops tramples smaller creatures for 2d10.
A quick-footed kin of the compsognathus, it hunts in packs across grasslands and through forests, running from larger predators but relentlessly chasing anything it sees as food. Though 10 feet from snout to tail, it is slender and weighs just 50 pounds, so it is very fast, usually strikes first and is hard to hit. When prey is scarce, a hungry podokesaurus will just as readily attack one of its own pack.
A nightmarish flyer with a 10-foot serpentine neck and long jaws, toothless below yet able to rip deep wounds. Its shadow is almost as large as a roc's, whose 60-foot span is only slightly greater. It dives from high above, giving opponents -3 on surprise rolls. If it surprises a target, it has plunged at double speed to attack at +4, and any damage from that strike is doubled. It weighs only about 75 pounds but can carry off three or four times that. Like a vulture, it will eat carrion when nothing better is available.
This aggressive herbivore charges anything that seems threatening and tramples smaller creatures for 2d8. Its bony neck plate makes its head AC 2. Anything trying to bite its hindquarters has a 50% chance of being jabbed by the plate's sharp frill spikes, 1-3 of them at 1d6 each.
