A mixed pack of prehistoric hunters and grazers, from spur-kicking crested carnosaurs to a man-swallowing armored fish and the longest-necked creature alive.
Its fragile skull cannot anchor strong jaw muscles, so this carnosaur relies on the talons and spurs of its hind feet to tear prey open while its snakelike neck darts in to bite. It likes open ground and seldom enters thick forest. Often it hunts in pairs or small groups, seeking a big dinosaur to feast on. Only males carry its distinctive twin head crests.
Its name means 'terrible fish', and that is what it is: not a dinosaur at all but a huge, primitive fish. An unmodified attack roll of 20 means its great mouth swallows a man-sized victim whole.
A sauropod like brontosaurus and diplodocus but far longer and lighter, this swamp herbivore has a 35-foot neck, half its gangly length, and rears on its hind legs to browse the very top of almost any tree. Sages say no natural creature has a longer neck, but bony struts lock its 19 neck bones, so it can bend only at the head and a little at the shoulders. It fights only to defend itself, though stepping on something small, such as a human, deals 3d8.
A common and seemingly gentle plant eater, it is a favorite meal of tyrannosaurus, deinonychus and allosaurus, so it is attacked often. When that happens it snaps quickly with its long, sharp teeth and then runs. Its five-fingered hands with spiked thumbs look dangerous but are used only to gather plants. Like the camarasaurus it swallows stones to grind its food. It is stupid enough to treat any approach by strangers as an attack.
A carnosaur smaller than allosaurus or tyrannosaurus at 30 feet long, 10 feet tall and only one ton. It walks on two legs as well as its cousins but often moves on four. It hunts sauropods such as mamenchisaurus, bringing down unwary victims chiefly with its big jaws, since its sharp claws do only minor harm to giants like diplodocus and brachiosaurus.
This very fast plains hunter feeds on anything from eggs and insects up to beasts of its own size. It is light, but its quickness makes it hard to hit. A hungry pack that greatly outnumbers a larger creature may attack it as well.
