Twenty-five-foot giants of godlike beauty and temper who swing enchanted mauls, wield twentieth-level magic, and are so often mistaken for gods that some have dared to play the part.
Titans look like magnificently built, beautiful men and women 25 feet tall, dressed in classical Greek style (togas, loincloths and the like) and decked in rare jewelry to seem all the more overwhelming. They speak their own tongue, common, the six chief giant dialects and the language of forest creatures, reflecting close ties to nature.
A titan's weapon is the maul of the titans, striking twice a round for 7-42 points per hit. It may instead make one special attack, saved for when no other option remains, usable every other round. The form differs (a kick, a punch, breath, lightning), but every hit does 10-60 points and can topple buildings or sink ships.
Each titan casts either wizard or priest spells, not both, at 20th level, and can go ethereal twice a day. All also have these spell-like powers at 20th level, one per round, at will. Defensive and healing: bless, cure light wounds, protection from evil 10' radius, remove curse, remove fear, shield. Control: charm person or mammal, eyebite, hold monster, hold person, hold undead. Deception and travel: advanced illusion, alter self, astral spell, invisibility, levitate, mirror image, pass without trace. Nature and elements: animal summoning II, commune with nature, fire storm, light, produce fire, speak with plants, summon insects, whispering wind. Nonmagical weapons cannot hurt them.
Titans are lovers of life and shapers of destiny, wild, chaotic and fundamentally good, so they avoid killing even though they feel everything more intensely than mortals. Quick to rage and quicker to forgive, one in a fury can level a mountain and one in a passion can found an empire.
Still, they are no gods. They dwell in the mountain realm of the gods and walk with deities, but are neither all-knowing nor all-powerful, though whole peoples have worshiped them. One titan of knowledge, Sophren, enjoyed centuries of such worship until the one-eyed king of the northern gods uncovered the fraud and chained him beneath the deepest ocean for a full 100 years.
Storm giants are the closest thing to peers titans have found. Any group of titans has a 35% chance of having one or more along, and even a condescending titan treats them as equals.
In their palaces titans have copied the dress, food and music of their realm, perhaps on a whim. They dance, sing, study and argue on a giant scale, obsessing over a subject for weeks before dropping it, and their debates can end in laughter or thunder.
Physically a titan is just an outsized human, quirks and moods included; nobody knows what grants their immortality.
Many hold a unique, potent power tied to their nature. Thalassor of the seas makes water at will, up to a medium-sized lake's worth, letting it flow, blasting it from his hands, or freezing it. Feliron, lord of cats, becomes any giant cat and back five times daily, each change instantly curing his wounds, diseases and poisons. Verdane brings any immature life to full growth, from crops to boys, and is too wise to abuse it. Veritan of law and justice unerringly senses every spoken lie and ill intent, cannot lie himself, and serves greater powers at trials. Amarelle of love lifts hatred, sorrow and despair from anyone but deities and powers for a day or more, and upper-plane gods use her to end wars. Mortheus of death can take any life but does so only at a deity's command, and other titans revere his restraint.
Rumor tells of greater titans who always attend a god, perhaps ordinary titans grown so mighty the gods drew them near. Like the gods, no nondivine being can ever harm them, so they have no meaningful combat statistics.
