A bear-sized jungle elephant with a foul temper, short tusks of unusually strong ivory, and a habit of driving every other creature out of its patch of forest.
The onco is a close relative of the elephant but only about as big as a bear, and its tusks never grow past a foot long.
Being small, it can bring trunk and both tusks against one foe, or divide the three attacks between two. It is quick to charge, using that temper to scare other animals off its range.
Oncos roam the jungle floor in families, usually one bull with 1d4 cows; any others are young who stay out of fights. A lone onco is generally a male hunting for mates.
Browsing the low jungle, oncos open clearings that other big animals use. They are too ill-tempered to serve as mounts or pack beasts. Their ivory is prized for its strength, fetching about 100 gp per tusk.
