Six-armed, three-torsoed giants twisted from captive wild elves by a spider-priestess, fanatically loyal slaves whose many shields swat aside blows and arrows alike.
When the spider-priestess Veshyra, servant of the queen of dark dragons, trapped a band of wild elves in her schemes, she remade them in her own image, much as drow who displease their goddess are turned into driders. The result was the curotai, a drow word meaning guardians of an important person. Each still looks like a wild elf, except that three torsos sit stacked one atop another, each with two arms usually holding a weapon and a shield.
With Strength 18/01 and six arms, a curotai is devastating in melee, and as weapon-specialist fighters they make multiple attacks. Twice each round it can parry a blow that would have landed, missiles such as arrows or flaming oil included, cancelling two successful hits against it every round.
Curotai are slaves, fanatically devoted to Veshyra and obedient to her every word. They leave drow and spiders alone but attack anything else on sight. Her willstone keeps them bound; if it is taken from her or destroyed, they turn back into ordinary wild elves.
Like spiders, they live on meat and prefer it still alive.
