Behemoth

Rare, fearless predators shaped like killer whales on four stubby legs, behemoths ambush from water, snow or darkness and always go for the biggest target present.

Overview

All three known species look like killer whales on four short legs, and all are fearless hunters of people. Thankfully they are rare. Each ambushes in its own way and always picks the largest creature in a group. They are quick, swim and dig well, and will hunt any animal, even other predators.

Habitat and Society

Each needs a range of at least 100 square miles and defends it savagely, especially from its own kind. 10% of encounters are families: a mated pair with one or two young (5-10 HD, 2-20 damage).

Swamp Behemoth

Grayish green, it lurks underwater in the marshes around a great city, rising to strike the biggest creature in a group, or hiding in brush and trees when there is no water.

Snow Behemoth

White-furred, it tunnels under the frozen northern wastes, hears footfalls 100 yards away, and erupts from the snow to impose -4 on surprise.

Black Behemoth

Active day or night in forests and plains, it imposes -4 on surprise in the dark.
