Six ancient terrors of the deep sea, from a rubber-shelled giant turtle to long-necked lunging reptiles and a primitive fish big enough to gulp a swimmer whole.
Several of these sea giants are not true dinosaurs at all, but they share the same ancient oceans and the same appetite.
Archelon: A huge reptile turtle with a thick, rubbery shell like a leatherback's instead of hard plates. Big front flippers make it quick in the water, and it rarely comes ashore.
Dinichthys: A giant primitive fish whose name means "terrible fish." A natural 20 on its attack roll means it swallows a man-sized victim whole.
Mosasaurus: An air-breathing sea lizard (kin include platecarpus and plotosaurus) whose great length comes from a spine of up to 100+ vertebrae. Sluggish ashore, graceful afloat, it hunts any marine animal and its jaws split shell and bone.
Nothosaurus: An especially aggressive hunter of tropical seas that basks on rocks between kills. Its long neck whips the head forward in a fast darting bite, and in a frenzy it also clubs prey with its big fore flippers. Clumsy on land, swift at sea.
Plesiosaurus: Like a serpent fused to a shell-less turtle, with a neck about a third of its length (shorter overall than the elasmosaurus). Strong, fast and able to pivot almost in place, it attacks nearly anything it notices, and in water combat each fore flipper deals 2d6 points of damage.
Temnodontosaurus: A huge fish lizard, not a dinosaur, that bears live young at sea and must surface to breathe. Fast and fearless, it contests the best prey with anything. In a feeding frenzy its tail also lashes out, damaging any creature behind it that it hits.
